Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 Review

The Fujitsu P7230 is available in either all black or white, personally
I like the all black look of the review model that I have. Mostly
because I believe it hides dirt better and looks somewhat more
professional, but I like the fact Fujitsu has the choice as obviously
we each have our reasons and preferences when it comes to color choice.



Outside of color the look is great. While there’s nothing
ground-breaking regarding looks, the design is clean and the LED lights
are nice and bright with no light bleeding going on. There are no sharp
edges, it’s curved and smoothed at the corners while having a
slightly angular and upward sloped look at the back.



The build is commendable; it’s simply a very solid little machine
with no flexing on the case whatsoever. The case material is a
mag-alloy construction. You can tap the case to hear that it’s no

WiFi worry: Laptops at risk of attack

As communities push to turn themselves into massive wireless hot spots,
unsuspecting Internet users are giving hackers nearly effortless access
to their laptops and private information, authorities and high-tech
security experts say.



It's a growing invasion with a twist: People who think they are signing
on to the Internet through a wireless hot spot might actually be
connecting to a look-alike network, created by a malicious user who can
steal sensitive information, said Geoff Bickers, a special agent for
the FBI's Los Angeles cyber squad.



It is not clear how many people have been victimized, and few suspects
have been charged with Wi-Fi hacking. But Bickers said that over the
past couple of years, these hacking techniques have become increasingly
common, and they are often undetectable. The risk is especially high at
cafes, hotels and airports, busy places with heavy turnover of laptop

Alienware Area 51 m5790 Review

First off, the laptop looks like no other. I immediately liked the idea
of the glowing alien head on the cover along with the shiny silver
finish. The paint is smooth, glossy and deep, reminding me of a new car
shine. On the plus side, I won't have to spend hours every few weeks to
wax it to keep that look.



Opening it up, you have a full-sized keyboard layout, complete with a
separate keypad section. While it's a nice feature to have the keypad,
it takes some getting used to since I was used to placing my hands in
the middle of all my other notebooks, while this makes you place your
hands to the left side to find the proper keys to type. You can see the
trackpad isn't centered, but more to the left for that reason.



There is a dedicated scroll pad section to act like the 3rd button on
your mouse. A nice feature. Several function buttons are placed at the
top of the keyboard, which include the power on button. My only
complaint here is that the buttons are somewhat more difficult to press
than they should be. They are long, but thin, requiring you to use the
tip of your finger or perhaps your fingernail to depress them. Also,
the mouse buttons seem a bit harder to depress than all the other
notebooks I've been used to. When I use the trackpad, I use my index
finger to scroll and my left thumb to click. After an hour of web
browsing, the side of my thumb seemed a bit sore from having to press
harder than normal. Luckily, I almost always use an external mouse, so

Asus V2Je Review

he Asus V2JE has a very clean design, it will appeal to business users.
The color of the laptop is primarily a dark grey and a carbon fiber
black which gives the notebook a contemporary look. The laptop has
silver accents which mimic the similar Asus V1JP model. There is a
silver trim around the lid, the edge of the chassis and around the
touchpad.



My initial impression of the laptop was that it would be fit for a
business user looking for styling, good performance, and a swivel
webcam and fingerprint reader. The design is very inviting, and once
you open the laptop, you see a very clean design. The webcam draws you
in, and also the silver accent around the touchpad with the fingerprint

HP Compaq 6515b Review

The 14.1-inch widescreen display with a standard 1280 x 800-pixel
resolution isn't the brightest we've seen but is fine for an office
environment. The onscreen images looked great from all but the most
extreme angles. The system's ATI Radeon X1250 graphics chip produced a
decent 3DMark03 score of 1,397, which means the HP Compaq 6515b can
handle most graphics well but will stumble with 3D gaming. The notebook
lasted just 2 hours and 11 minutes on our DVD rundown test. When
running basic business applications, you'll likely see three hours, but
not much more. That's about an hour less than the average time seen on
previously tested thin-and-light notebooks. We recommended purchasing
the 8-cell battery ($129) that will provide up to six hours of power.
If all-day endurance is what you need, HP offers a 12-cell battery
($179) that churns out a hefty 16 total hours of battery life.



It's easy to stay connected when you wander outside of hotspot range
thanks to a choice of EV-DO Rev. 0 or HSDPA mobile-broadband radios.
While connected to Verizon's 3G network, we downloaded Firefox and saw
an average connection speed of 187.2 Kbps, which is disappointing but
decent enough for checking e-mail and browsing the Web. The HP Compaq
6515b aced our Wi-Fi tests, however; it produced stellar scores of 18.7
Mbps from 15 feet and 17.4 Mbps from 50 feet. Those who are looking for
the next generation of Wi-Fi will be happy to know that the 6515b

Voodoo Envy HW201 Review

The HW201 certainly looks the part of a luxury machine. The Bavaria
Blue Candy automotive quality paint job (one of 22 colors available) is
flawless, as is the 1680 x 1050 pixel screen. It delivered a sharp,
clear picture with rich, saturated colors and excellent motion video
reproduction. The panel's viewing angle performance was the best we've
seen from all angles, meaning you can place it on a coffee table and
everyone will have a good view.



The full-sized keyboard and number pad were very comfortable to use, as
were the smooth touchpad-painted the same color as the chassis-and the
large brushed-silver mouse buttons. Although there are four dedicated
buttons for the webcam, Bluetooth, e-mail, and browser, there are no
dedicated multimedia control buttons, though there's clearly plenty of
room for some. The deck-mounted speakers and internal subwoofer deliver
plenty of volume and bass response-perhaps the best we've heard on a
notebook.



The HW:201 also has a full contingent of ports, including five USB
ports, FireWire, S-Video out, DVI jacks, and more. There's a Type II PC
Card slot as well as a 7-in-1 card reader. Voodoo includes its own
disaster-recovery software, as well as the Roxio Easy Media Creator 8.2
suite and CyberLink DVD 6.0. You even get a Func Industries

Toshiba Tecra 700CT Review

Toshiba choose to use a light gray design for the exterior of the Tecra
700CT. Light gray is the only color on this machine and there are no
variations. I am personally very fond of the look – it looks
professional and I like the consistency. I used to get compliments
wherever I took this machine, but that was during the mid-90s. In more
recent years while in public view, I have been either accused of
robbing a museum or questioned about why I was using a typewriter.



The machine is made entirely of plastic and the plastic used is quite
thick. It, unlike cheaper plastic, is dyed all the way through so it
will not show wear and tear. There is no flex evident on the machine
and it is solid all around. The screen is solid as a board and shows no
ripples when pushed from behind.



The Tecra 700CT features an 11.3-inch standard-aspect display with an
800x600 (SVGA) resolution. It is powered by a C&\1T CT65548 video
controller with 1MB of video RAM. In my opinion, the LCD display is a
welcome improvement over the traditional CRT. LCDs are expensive and
